New Delhi If you have a friend or a relative who you have seen suffering from Sciatica, you must know that it is a sharp pain that radiates from lower back to the leg and foot.
Symptoms range from leg pain and possibly tingling, numbness or weakness that travels from the low back through the buttock and down the large sciatic nerve in the back of the leg.
Painkillers and rubs do not work in the long run and the vast majority of people find pain relief with non-surgical treatments.
For others, however, sciatica can be severe and debilitating. There are certain asanas (posture based exercises from Yoga) that can ease the pain, though and the best thing about them is that they have no side effects.
Step 1: Lie flat on your back and slowly; bend your right knee to bring it to your chest.
Step 2: Now gradually grip your right foot, inhale and straighten out your leg.
Step 3: Hold the posture for 20-30 seconds.
Warning Avoid practicing the posture if you are recovering from a cardiac condition or if you are suffering from migraine, asthama or bronchitis.
These asanas should help you resume normal life soon as the pain subsides gradually and goes away for good.
