Mumbai: Works of some of the finest artists of the country are up for auction in Mumbai.
The sale is with a noble purpose to raise funds for an innovative education initiative. The funds will be used to help children understand the significance of communal harmony.
The move was necessitated by the fact that we live in an environment increasingly ravaged by divisive forces spreading terror.
The site of the art sales is a small gallery in Tardeo in South Mumbai but it showcases the works of stalwarts like Tyeb Mehta, Arpana Caur and their likes.
A seemingly small canvas by Caur is priced at a steep Rupees fifteen lakh.
The initiative is launched by an NGO led by eminent social activists and co-sponsored by Network 18 to raise funds for educating school children about communal harmony.
