New Delhi: Jharkhand is in the midst of a fresh political crisis. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief Shibu Soren on Sunday withdrew support to the Madhu Koda government in the state.

The decision came after Soren's deadline to the UPA to install him as Chief Minister of the state ended on Sunday. In fact, Soren has been busy trying to woo all nine independents to get the numbers to form the government.

Soren insists he should be installed as CM in return for supporting the UPA during the Trust Vote in Lok Sabha last month.

Meanwhile, a worried Koda has now convened an emergency meeting at his residence to discuss the situation. Some independent MLAs are also attending the meeting.

Koda has also refused to step down and said he has the numbers to prove the majority in the Assembly.

Earlier, Koda had expressed hope that a 'middle path' would be found to end the political uncertainty in Jharkhand following Soren's inclination to take over the reins of the UPA coalition in the state.

"There is no danger to the government. I am confident that a middle path can be found," Koda had told PTI.

However, Koda did not elaborate the possible options to find a middle path.

Koda leads a 42-member UPA government with 17-MLAs supporting the government from within and Congress (nine MLAs) and RJD (seven MLAs) lending support from outside.

Koda also has the support of nine other MLAs from smaller parties and Independents.

This is how the Jharkhand Assembly looks like at the moment:
