Sofia: Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov opened Wednesday the first robotized gynaecology clinic in Southeast Europe in northern Bulgarian city of Pleven, Sofia News Agency reported.
According to the report, surgery in the Pleven Clinic will be carried out using the four-armed robot Da Vinci.
"The incorporation of this advanced technology gives Bulgaria a leading role in the field of medicine," Parvanov said at the opening ceremony.
The Da Vinci robot was a supreme achievement and a real revolution in the development of mini-invasive surgery, the Bulgarian president said.
According to him, the opening of the clinic was an example of the perfect cooperation between the academic community and state institutions.
He also said that not only Bulgarians but also foreign specialists would be trained at the Pleven medical centre.
