New Delhi: Different art forms represent different cultures and based on this theory, Osian’s exhibition of Asian Art provides a window to the sub-continent.
Wayang Goleks, Mush Taika, Ningyo dolls and Tibetan Thangkas are some of the Asian art forms that were on display at the exhibition.
Wayang Goleks are wooden rod puppets from Java, Mush Taika are Japanese dolls and Tibetan Thangkas are paintings with distemper on cloth and depict Buddhist art.

One might see themselves as part of different countries across Asia but what we have in common are the subjects of art, which are interpreted and presented in different ways.
"There is a beautiful selection of Balinese Ramayan which seems completely different, but it’s actually narrating the story of Ram and Sita," says art historian Yashodara Dalmia.

Osian's latest offer is masterpieces of Asian art. There are rare categories of political posters on the Chinese revolution from China, photographs on the late 19-century Afghan War from Afghanistan, ancient Japanese Samurai armour, works of Hasan Khan Sadequin from Pakistan, George Keyt from Sri Lanka and a lot more.

"My objective is to change the infrastructure of this country in its art and culture. For that you have to make people open up their minds and respect something. No one would come to this without falling in love and respecting something," says Chairperson of Osian Neville Tuli.
Osian is India's premier art auction house.
