New Delhi: It was almost the perfect honeymoon. Greg Norman was playing the British Open weeks after marrying multiple Grand Slam winner Chris Evert.

He nearly won but even a third place finish was beyond his wildest expectations.

"I didn't want to finish third, I would have rather finished first and set a few records for the history books, but at the end of the day my performance was something I was very, very proud of and obviously to have Chrissie beside me to experience difference grass - normally she use to that really tightly cut grass at Wimbledon, not the really high grass at the British Open. Chrissie and I had just reminiscing about the experiences she had in the past when she hasn't done well and how you actually go through this process of adaptation on the golf course or adaptation on the tennis court. And we can relate to it in a tremendous fashion and she just really helped me in a big way this morning you know getting me over the hump of don't carry the burden too much with you get rid of it and move on," Norman said.

Wife Chris Evert said, "I'd like to take all the credit, but I can't. It can work both ways. If I do anything I provide a relaxed environment for him, but at the same time he's got to go out and hit the shots and the way I figure it could have worked the other way where he was very relaxed and maybe not focused and caring as much about his golf and he could have had a disastrous tournament. So people are trying to give me a little bit of credit but I want him to - you know if he wants to play golf and he feels like he is playing well than he should just keep playing, but feel relaxed, because I think when you win at any sport you are in a relaxed state."
