New Delhi: The Noida police on Saturday found the body of a man – suspected to be the Nepali servant who allegedly murdered his employee’s daughter – on the terrace of the house he worked in.

Police are verifying whether the dead man is 45-year-old servant Hemraj, the servant who was being looked out for in connection with the murder of 14-year-old Arushi Talwar on Friday.

Arushi’s body was found in the bedroom of her house in Noida’s sector 25. Police initially suspected Hemraj since he was missing.

Arushi, a student of DPS-Noida, was stabbed in the head and neck with a kitchen knife.

Hemraj was staying with the Talwars for the past eight months. According to initial investigations, he allegedly entered Arushi's bedroom past midnight on Thursday and stabbed her with a kitchen knife thrice on the head before slashing her neck.

Arushi was bleeding to death even as her parents slept in the next room having heard nothing.

The crime came to light on Friday morning when the maid arrived and found that the house had been locked from outside and Hemraj was missing.

"The dead body will be sent for post-mortem. We will identify the nature of injuries. We don't suspect Hemraj since his body has now been found. A third person must be involved," SP (City) Mahesh Mishra said.

"As a neighbour, I went to meet Arushi's family. I was posted as a DSP of the area during my career. But when I casually lo0oked around I found many clues. Then I looked at the room where the girl was killed, the servant’s room and bathroom. There also, I found many clues and blood stains. The blood stains led me to the stairs and then I went to the terrace. The door to the terrace was locked. No one had the keys so we broke open the lock and discovered the body. I was decomposing. His throat, too, was slit just like Arushi. Then I called up the SP (City) and SSP and told them that there are many clues. It seems that the servant was killed on the terrace and then his body was dragged and concealed," Talwars neighbour and former police officer KK Gautam said.

But the twin murders have left many unanswered questions.

  • Why did the police not follow the blood trail and discover the servant's body in the house?
  • If the servant died at the same time as Arushi, who then killed the girl and why?
  • How did the parents - both doctors - sleep through two murders in their house?
  • Who are the suspects in this case now?
  • In fact police sources tell CNN-IBN off the record that they see the parents as the suspects
