New Delhi: Eid-ul-Fitr is the day that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. Eid is an Arabic word meaning festivity, while Fiṭr means to break the fast. The day symbolises the breaking of the fasting period. Muslims say that after fasting for a month, the day of Eid is a gift from Allah, when they pray to Him for peace and happiness.
