Mukherjee was speaking exclusively with CNN-IBN on Devil’s Advocate.
Karan Thapar: Clearly, this is an incident that needs to be investigated. But should it be investigated by MPs themselves, or should it be handed over to an institution like the CBI?
Pranab Mukherjee: No, that is for Speaker to decide. Speaker has no investigating agencies and he does not investigate himself. But before that you will have to get the necessary material and after that, he will hand it over.
Karan Thapar: If the Speaker were to call on the Government for the help of the CBI, would you have any objection?
Pranab Mukherjee: Of course not, because the Speaker's directive is acceptable to us and Government alone has the investigating agencies, no other authority has it.
