New Delhi: For the first time in four years, Facebook reported a slowdown in growth last year. Experts say irritating applications could be one reason people aren't signing up anymore.

The social networking website Facebook is turning off many people. Although it may sound surprising but there's something about it that’s bothering a lot of people.

Facebook fatigue aka application overload. That's what happens when you're hit with a ton of free invitations for various applications. Virtual plants and animals, random quizzes and good luck charms. There are twenty thousand cute little programs out there and they've just begun to get on people's nerves.

“I get almost 70 requests every day. Liked them in the beginning but now they are annoying. Daily I get requests to rate my friends on the basis of their looks, creativity, fashion sense etc. To be frank, I think I am done with them,” says Facebook user, Vibhor Rastogi.

However, Vibhor is not alone. More than a million people from Facebook group are demanding a ban on unsolicited applications.

Each time you sign up for a free application, you actually sign your privacy away. Whoever programmed that application gets authorized to view your personal contact details and write-ups and if your friends sign up for the same application, he can spy on them too.
