B S GANESH Are our politicians, lawyers and judges read the excellent observations expressed through your channel to reform. Country is being ruled in a chaotic manner. India has become a criminals and politicians paradise at the cost of honest and innocent people who struggle to make both ends meet.

hardhitter71 Folks, this is pure divide and rule to cover up 60 years of incompetence of elected junkies.

Back in my days, we had a Gohil family making good money, leaving in good neighbourhoods and going to the same schools with three boys. Eldest performed beyond par and the family attitude was to keep the quotta seat open for low performance. Other two did manage to take the quotta seats. Today their sons will be taking same advantage...

Neither was that family backwards in 80s, not it is today, but the only hunger is on part of congress to divide people and blame BJP as religion based imperialist! Madam Sonia maino, you shouted about injustice in Gujarat heartland, but you your self are imposing injustice on performance for no fault of deserving candidates. Shame....on you Madam sonia, that to get elected you have to resort to low gutter class tactics. And let me also assure you that you will never resolve the quotta of backwardness, because it is not in your political interest.

There are no backward classes and forward classes in India, they only exist in voter lists....

more Rajesh Acharya In past centuries, our grand-grand-grand parents followed a caste system which was right at that point of time, now we have to pay the price for the same. But aren't we creating again a discreminatory system...only the sides have changed. This is my appeal to all SC/ST/OBC brothers and sister to stand-up and see they are being used by the politician and they are not getting what they should get i.e more scholarship, primary education, health care system, housing, water, electricity, jobs etc..
The SC/ST/OBC community should stand up and say we are Indian and we want to be treated equally with other Indians. If they fail to say so then i doubt their Indianess..sorry to use harsh word..

Praveen Sharma Mr.Das cited the case of a tribal boy who topped in the IAS. That is exactly the point - actually he is contradicting himself - merit is everywhere, SC, ST, OBC or whatever politically colored nomenclature you give. Minister, you are dividing the country. We only expect this type of self contradictory arguments from supporters of OBC quotas - because actually they have no argument!

As you say, merit is everywhere, then why the crutches of reservation? Only because OBC's are dominating the politics, now they want to dominate all the areas of society. This, and the need of divisive politics, for VOTES, (that goddess of power in democracy, alas!) that is the real reason behind reservation of OBC's.

All the OBC ministers when asked on a TV program, denied having taken the advantage of reservations -they felt rather ashamed of taking advantage of reservations..That is how any self respecting person will feel.

Merit is not a slogan, it is the capability of an individual..ultimately, as someone said in the forum, in life, you have to prove yourself..if you are going to give advantage to those who lack the capabilities over the ones who do, how do you expect the society to go ahead? Caste is something people are gradually forgetting, this is the nature of modern society, it has no place for castes..that is how the society will progress- if only the politicians will let it do. They are only going to divide the country for their vested interests.

if you discourage the deserving - what kind of society do you expect? --

Will your descendants be proud of you or ashamed of you?

Think, politician, think!

srinath I challenge the politicians especially Arjun and the courts playing with the life of the young generation. Step into my area and i will show and prove that the so called OBC's own multiple properties and finantially better off. The government and the courts have no right to play with the life of the common man.

M Chandrasekaran This country is already divided 73% in the name of language. Now the 27% will create more division among people. It is still surprising how our constitution guarantees equal rights to all. Already we are behind many countries by couple of decades in science and technological development. The 27% will take us back to stone age only. DRDO is a living example. It cannot design even screw driver on its own. Our country is going to be ruled by OBC/ST/SC/Tribals only. We will have a fat and pampered junk of vote bank instead of productive population. Long live politicians of this country! Long live equality guaranteed by Constitution!

sriharsha I reckon that the only people who are glad regarding the verdict is politicians....since they are the only people who will only count for the votes rather than its effects caused.one of the indirect effect of this reservation is people are leaving the India who are well talented and also lead to increase the caste discrimination .......

aawaj Mr .Singh, please try negotiate with the US department of higher education for the Reservation Quota in US universities too. I think the higher education system in India needs to undergo a structural change, we should encourage private participation in higher education, we have to create institutes which can replicate IITs and IIMs, in US lot of the Ivy league universities are largely private ones. Industry should welcome this step and should fund the education, otherwise India's intellectual capital is going to suffer
