kriss4me It is very unfortunate still people are voting for these parties... Certain parties are scar in our political system. To have stability in future elections, why constitution can't be amended to whoever wins more seats will automatically elected to form government. Atleast this will avoid fall of governments before end of their stiipulated term. Otherwise, we have similar incidents, parties without any vision, And we have to rely on Sagarika's article to take our frustration out.

Wilson Raj Raj Thanks Sagarika for such a wonderful piece writing. Honestly it reflects the mood of the people of India. The Leftist were a necessary evil for the survival of the UPA. If they want to implement their ideologies they must first get a majority in parliament. The people of India should not allow a group of 59 MPs from WB & Kerala influence foreign policy of India. Again I want to congratulate you for the best article i've ever read on the Left. Keep up the great work.

Kiran D Sagarika, i totally agree with your blog. In the recent past the Red Front (as I would prefer to call them) has become the reason our governments indecisiveness. As the Red Front they have attempted at every oppprtunity to stall any sort of relations we have with the Americans. Today it is in our benefit if we have the US as our Ally. The Taliban is getting stronger again in the hinterland of Pakistan and the Chinese are slowly flexing their military muscles. With the DRDO a waste of money and resources vis-a-vis the Arjun tank and the Tejas LCA, the Americans and Israel are our only hope of military cooperation and technology. No doubt the Russian are there, but they have been reduced to being irrelevant to us. But wearing Red coloured goggles does make you seem that putting your foot in the way of progress appear like helping the countries' interests. I hope sanity prevails and Governments never have to take the help of the Left Front ever again!!

freako Thanks to the left there is atleast a check an balance system in this country. The myopic view of Sagarikas of this country have fueled the inequalities of this country and misplaced the priorities. When a country of over a billion is starving, you gloss over the plastic lives of a few mall hoping, scotch drinking few who think that economics is all about keeping the sensex high.

Your rubbish of this article is straight out of a dark shady pub that your kind frequent so regilarly while spending wads of moolah while you dilbrately do not want to even think about the three children waiting outside your pub, often being shoved and kicked by the bouncer, for you to share a few pennies so that they can have something to feed thier stomach. You might say that begging is a crime, but the bigger crime is creating beggers.

The real india upsets you becuase it takes away the sheen out of the lies that you propogate through your media and what better way to hide it than avaoiding the topic. You might quote singular instances of rags to riches, but sagarika exceptions do not make the norm, your idea of equality is you being invited to high-profile parties where you are treated as equal, but eacch time you say that the sensex is galloping and is an index of the well being of the country, imagine that there are 100s of millions of indians living in this country who care damn about what the sensex is all they care about is survivinmg for the day. You wouldnt know sagarika becuase of the silver spoon or you are just plain blind to acknowledge it or you just dont care about people, any which way, you dont have the right to criticize the ones who have a view and stand by it.

And what good is an economist if he cannot factor in the poor when he thinks that the only way out is to create money, true but when the benefits cannot be shared and does not reach where it is required, and you dont see it, you are no less and evil than the devil.

amit_shukla I am no Red lover and agree with most , but not all of your comments . The NEW INDIA is young and restless and as always the old fail to emapthise with the young . But there are values endured across time ,across generations . Your comment " your moral righteousness are incongruous in a country shouting "Chak de India." sums up the value crisis our country is facing...in NEW INDIA moral righteousness as outdated like a Fiat car ....Hail NEW INDIA !!!!

Liju xavier xavier I agree with sagarika, and would like to say its the reality, true sketch of left parties. They were never responsible .. people trust in upa govt and Manmohan singh and Chidambaram who are taking india ahead. Both Karat and bardhan couldnt convey the public why left parties opposing the nuclear deal. Am also fail to understand, even the Chinese govt is so wide open to globalization and other reforms. Then what wrong with these people? The communist parties in India are 10 years back in thinking.. and they wil corrcet their decisons after a deacde. whatever the Leftists are opposing is good for our country.

Venkatesh Nagasamudram Nagasamudram Well written article. The Bunch of Old People at Red Block does not see the reality. They live in some sort of what shall I say old order.
The basic thing is that N deal has to go several rounds of stages to get operational. The fundamental principle is that if it is commercial non viable to produce electricity through N Power, (This is one of the contention of of Red party.) then it will automatically die.
Today we are living in Global Economy and any thing which is not commercially feasible will have its end day.
We should at least try to do some thing for the country , keeping aside the merits and demerits of the N deal.
With Left we have see 4.5 years of In action, rather retarded growth. Now congress take this opportunity and give some aggresieve policy change so that we will be back on our growth story inspite of Inflation.

sachin menon If not the end of an era, this can certainly be seen as the begining of the end. The communists for long sold the illusion to the rest of the country as being the true representatives of the poor and the down trodden. Alas, the people's disillusionment with communists seems to be far over whelming. To add to the near suicide committed by communists, there is a near vaccuum in the middle layer of their leadership which for sure will impede even the state level political ambitions, leave alone the ambition of leading the country. I am reminded of the sanskrit saying, "Vinash kale viparita buddhi". RIP - Communists of India.
