suhas Its both a good-day and a bad day for the day of Indian politics..,its good the corruption that was happening behind the screens came to light in front of the people and the sad thing is that without proper investigation the confidence vote took place because the PM was afraid of losing the trust vote after the "gentlemen" behind the MP poaching were exposed. So i say it was an act of cowardice to still go on with the trust vote after all the allegations made..

tpod In a few months, AK Gopalan Bhavan will wear a deserted look.—when was it jam-packed ? Even the TV cameras will switch off.---today the TV cameras have turned into MONEY Camera. Alas, comrades. You are men and women of such unimpeachable personal honesty, such depth of scholarship among so many of your leaders and sympathizers.— even their bete noir recognise this. You have stood sentinel against religious hatred and never hesitated to scream out against social evils. Yet in the end, you have scripted your own tragic drama of irrelevance.---by exercising their right to dissent—an essence for a democracy in not towing the line blindly—remember, even the text of the draft which subsequently went ON LINE was not shown to them .
Why did this happen? Your first mistake was that you refused to join the government or take on ministerships.—unlike others they have never eyed on posts. You preferred to be the eternal college campus rebel—If you mean the anti-social elements-do the survey and you will find that most of such elements belong to groups of which you seem to be not critical such, always oppositional, always agitational, but never responsible, or adult enough to recognize that in this country, managing change is about negotiating a myriad interest groups. –Managing even by sacrificing your principle is the corrupt practice. You could have taken over portfolios like the HRD ministry or Women and Child Development where your progressive commitments and social sector expertise would have been put to excellent service of the people.—You want to see them like others who do any thing for a berth.

Sekharipuram BJP/NDA should abstain from voting. This is the best strategy for them in the context of the Mayawati factor. And a fitting reply to the likes of Karat and party who have always treated them as communal pariahs. BJP/NDA will earn the goodwill of many who are tired of the leftists if they use this opportunity..

satishsura Our Nation today need person like Manmohan Singh, who understands the need of Nation. Left parties acted for their opinion that suits their idealogy as it was always doing. USA might be not so much appreaciable in its international moves but that doesn't make them they don't have space for right moves. Indeed they are the ones who are saving our economy from big unemployment from time to time. Similarly USA gained greater man power from India. Development runs on give and take policy. Lets look at this Nuclear Deal. It is very clear that Nuclear Deal is something that we can withdraw anytime without any penalty if USA doesn't stand to agreed norms. And what is the problem with that. As Sagarika said Left need to responsible to reality of India. Nuclear deal is for people of India to the worst hour that is going to come in future but not for rich people of India. So Left can't take Nuclear deal as "Why it is a big deal?" Left is behaving as such that economy of India is vast n ready to spend money for immediate elections for their personal and unintelligent opinion to satisfy their notion against USA. And their unclear reason on "why they don't want Nuclear Deal?" tells that.

ANAND VENKATARAMAN VENKATARAMAN if mr amar singh really supported the deal in national interest ,he should simply show it voting with the upa on 22at the parliment, instead he is going on dictating terms to the govt by stating one thing or the other.what about jmm?demanding an cabinet post, what about trs demanding a telgana state?what about the other individual mps demanding money at the back stage.if these people and parties are to be compared with left iam sorry to say i feel ashamed.they have supported the upa with a strong promise that they will follow the cmp, they withdrew the support for a reason that they belive in.see the differences it's not about money,it's not about ministerial post,it's not about power.

ANAND VENKATARAMAN VENKATARAMAN "No to nuclear deal, no to reforms, no to change, no to newness, no to price rise, no to America,"
can bjp say no to ram temple, can mr prime minister say no to nuke deal,it is as simple that for the left, though i agree that left's attitude towards many issues are simply not acceptable to a growing and a developing country like india.it's simply not negativsim it's simply there idealogies which comrades understand as far as the common man is considered these idealogies are blunders.
" Eleven years ago you committed the 'historic blunder' of not letting Jyoti Basu become prime minister because you were unwilling to share power. Today you have committed suicide because you did not know how to use power.
about the historic blunder as u have mentioned madam,if basu was made the prime minister the congress was going to ditch basu or whoever it may be,the only pplus ponit was that to get name in the history book, that is something that left is least bothered and for mr basu he has proved himself to be in the history of india by becoming an excellent leader.madam i dont think left supported the congress led upa to utilise power and at no instance i felt they utilised there power it is not because they dont know.i basicall think that they are against this type of blackmailing and utilisng power.at least they have an reason not support thhe upa whatever it may be whther it is an idealogy or any blunder the people think, for god's sake they are only party in india who are not utilising this power.they are transparent does that mean they are useless?after withdrawing support we all can see the fate of indian govt in hands of mp's who are lust of power, money.we can see thw sp leader amr singh gonig on saying something or the other just because he is the key man who is supporting the govt.

Fahad Ahmed Ahmed Well.
Here we are narrowing down our discussion to only political parties in India, Congress and CPI (or Left).
To start with, both have in reality done very very less for the good of the country, except for rhetorical speeches and press releases and advertisements.
Let me make myself clear, going (or saying) against Corporate capitalism (American style) doesn't necessarily mean that going with Communism (Soviet style).
There is and I believe there is a middle way, a more balanced way in between these two extremes.
The problem with both is too much of accumulation of power, beyond the accountable limits, within private enterprise (like in Capitalism) or withing Govt Enterprise (like in Communism).
Regarding Nuclear deal, I dont think India really has so much energy demand as it is being hyped in the "corporate" media.

bhagwanc Once again after quite sometime some stray thoughts from "idle bee", inspired by "busy bee", for the week ending 12th July, 08. Like light dispels darkness, Prakash wants to displace Manmohan Singh. Likewise, Manmohan Singh who was looking for light at the end of tunnel now appears shy of Prakash. Like even after snubs by Sonia, Mulayam remains mulayam to Cong (I), all becauseof his exit from Maya Nagri. Even Amar does not appear to have a moha for Maya. All of sudden Amar Singh finds equation between him and Manmohan and why not, both being Singh. Nuclear deal count down appears to have gone beyond 123 and now all that Sonia and camp want is 272. Like Manmohan Singh seems to have made up his mind after 4 and half years that after all it is wiser to risk one bird (Govt.) in hand for two in "Bush". And suddenly one single MP has become all too important to even demand creation of a separate state in return for saving the Govt. Like if the Govt. falls, only if it falls, it will be like Left parties hurling a nuclear bomb at it and at the nuclear deal. In alternate situation, it would be like Pokhran in Left camp. It appears that Left parties have strong conviction of ruling India one day and want option of nuclear tests to be kept open for them. Like by obtaining support of Muslim League Cong (I) seems to have sabotaged Maya devi's designs who was trying to give impression to the country that muslimsby and large were against Nuclear deal. Come to think of it. safeguard agreement which was "classified", how did it suddenly become public on website of Foreign Ministry within less than a week. Govt. seems to have at last woken up to the importance of right to information to combat mis-information (as they say). One hopes that after India joins G-8, the organisation may be re-named as G-9, which is possible only if the Govt. has proverbial cat's 9 lives. Amar Sing who at one time wanted to "gift" a Maruti car and a house to "sister" Sonia (since as per S

Fahad Ahmed Ahmed I completely and whole-heartedly agree with Tarun m m.
We cannot turn a blind eye to what US does and has done in the world after the World War 2, and more recently in Iraq and Afghanistan.
How can we even trust US that it's going to be in our own interest, without any personal interests of US??
Please go to google and type this "Third World Traveler" and search, and click on the very first URL. I hope this will work for you.

Tarun m m Nicely worded with sugar coated words depicting the psyche of the present day middle class of making the fast bucks and enjoy the fruits of so called globalisation. The media and our journalists have no time to write the problems millions are facing because they are busy glorifying the acts which suit a small but powerful lobby managing the affairs of the nation. The nuclear deal which is being showcased as if all enerjy related problems will be over once we sign this making a false propaganda by hiding the truth that the total increas in 2020 will be less than 4% of the total enerjy production. There were less than expected protests against fuel price hike due to a carefully planned and executed media coverage justifying the hike. The protests spreading religious and castiest hatred are glorified and do happen in great numbers can we justify them. Supporting  the govt from outside if being done by communists is criticised when they don't want to reap personaal benefits from their position of power. How the spin doctors of UPA are trying to manage numbers by giving in to the demands of vested interests are not highlighted by our liberalused media. It was sorry to read the comments by many readers who are making no stone unturned in critisising communists because of their FAULT of speaking for the havenots for whom neither media nor our newly emerging neo rich classes have any time.
Does increase in sensex in any way reflect the true health of our economy? the answer is no. The govt is not able to implement the sixth pay commission report, there are more people who sleep without meals today than it was before the LIBERALISATION, increase in crime rate and gret divide between the rich and poor. But alas we don't have time for them but the poor communists who voice their concerns for these people are criticised as if they are the biggest hurdle in development, progress and well being of the nation. We don tell people tthat communists do not seek personal favors.
